Welcome to the Office of Biotechnology at Iowa State University

Now approaching its 25th year, the Office of Biotechnology supports a world-class program at Iowa State University that excels in teaching, research and outreach for biotechnology.  The Office is active in supporting new faculty hires, who have gone on to bring in millions of dollars in federal and corporate research grants to Iowa. The Office has been a selling point for attracting biotechnology-related companies to Iowa, and was instrumental in the establishment of an Iowa Biotechnology Association of industries and academia.

Twenty-eight state-of-the-art instrumentation facilities support the teaching and research of university and industry scientists. Fellowships funded by the Office have attracted to the state nearly 200 exceptional graduate students who will be an outstanding source of future employees for Iowa companies.

The Biotechnology Outreach Education Center and coordinator serve Iowa's schools and extension educators year-round.
