The Iowa BioDevelopment Pilot Facility is located at the Iowa Bioprocess Training Center in Eddyville, Iowa. Businesses may lease the facility, which includes both laboratory space, fermentation equipment and analytical equipment. There are two industrial fermenters housed in the pilot facility, a 150 liter (100 liter maximum capacity) Chemap fermenter and an 80 liter (60 liter maximum capacity) New Brunswick fermenter. Our 150 liter Chemap fermenter is connected to Delta V software. All pneumatic valves and sensors for temperature, pH, agitation and oxygen can be controlled using the Delta V process control system. In addition, the pilot facility at IBTC houses a Shimadzu HPLC that can help analyze samples before, during and after a fermentation. The Powerfuge continual flow centrifuge and vacuum drum filter can be used after a fermentation as well, depending on the products made and their applications. A titrator is also available for solution preparation, and coming soon, a GC. Employee training is available through Iowa BioDevelopment on the HPLC and other equipment. Technical Equipment ![]()
